Start of the band

Start of the band

In 1985 Abingdon School  (boys school only) in Oxfordshire there was this group of students Thom Yorke (Vocalist and Guitar),  and Collin Greenwood (Bass) who played together in the music clasroom from the school ,Ed O'Brien, (Guitar) joined them later. They had the intention to make a band so they called Johny Greenwood (Guitar)  who was Collin's little brother. They heard there was this really good drummer called Phil Selway. He was an older year in the same school so they talked to him an there was were everything started. They didnt really knew each other before starting the band.

"On a friday" was the first name of the band. They put this name because they practiced all friday's, so they were not really very creative.

With pressure of their parents they all five went to colege and eventually all of them except Jhonny graduate from university.

While attending they all knew they wanted to keep playing together but while they were in colege they didnt play any single show, however they did find time during breaks to practice.

In 1991 they played together again in a local bar and they had a demos their songs circulated around Oxford an they started to get popularity. On A Friday signed a contract of a 6 album deal with EMI, a large record label . They changed their name to "Radiohead".
